Armbian 24.8 Yelt Released: What’s New

The Armbian 24.8 Yelt update launched with multiple upgrades focusing on the overall stability and performance of the system. This update also made an essential upgrade by replacing the kernel with the 6.10 Linux Kernel.

Hence, whether you are an Armbian user or want to explore the capabilities of ARM-based devices, you must know what’s inside the new update.  So here is the detailed information about the Armbian 24.8 update:

What’s New in the Armbian 24.8 Update

Armbian 24.8 supports the Linux 6.10 Kernel so that it can work smoothly on the latest devices. Unfortunately, Armbian 24.8 will not have some old utilities that were creating issues with the system’s performance. For performance modifications, this update has improved the data transferring speed for storage devices. The new update also supports GNOME, LXQt, Xfce, etc., to let you decide about the desktop environments for your system.

Thanks to the enhanced GPU and board support, you can now run Armbian 24.8 on hardware such as Mali GPUs, I2C, SPI, etc. The new update has also made Armbian compatible with multiple ARM boards, including Solitude, Banana Pi F3, and many older ARM boards.

The Kernel upgrade has improved the OCFS2 file system performance and encryption speed with AES-XTS. Moreover, Armbian 24.8 has H.264 decoder support, networking features, and desktop stability.

This update introduces 3D acceleration to the Debian-based Armbian system to improve the graphics. The Armbian team has also optimized ZFS 2.2.5 to work well with Linux 6.10 Kernel.
This Linux distribution is lightweight, so you can use it on low-end devices and get maximum performance. The Armbian is a community-driven project; you can download it from its official page.
