The Gnoppix project has announced the stable release of Gnoppix KDE 25.10, a Debian Trixie-based distribution focused on delivering significant out-of-the-box performance and privacy enhancements. This version eliminates the need for manual system tuning by integrating performance patches directly into the operating system, while also overhauling the user experience with a new central command center.
By including these patches by default, Gnoppix developers aim to provide a highly optimized system from first boot. The project reports that this change has a significant impact on gaming, allowing many Windows titles run through Steam and Lutris to perform exceptionally well. In some cases, games are reported to run faster than they do on Windows.
The user experience sees a major update with a completely redesigned Welcome Screen, which now functions as a central Control and Command Center. This new interface provides at-a-glance system status for network connectivity and secure Tor connections. To further aid its users, the project has also deployed a new 24/7 AI agent on its website. The self-learning, Open Source-based bot is designed to answer Gnoppix-related questions by querying internal databases and Google Sheets.
Reinforcing its focus on privacy, Gnoppix now features Librewolf as an optional browser. The team states this choice better aligns with their “commitment to user privacy and open standards” and is seeking user feedback on the change. In a move to better serve its global community, the project has also added news and updates in the Thai language to its forum and invites users to request support for other languages.
Prospective users should note that the system’s comprehensive hardware support results in a default RAM usage of approximately 3.8GB. The project strongly recommends a minimum of 8GB of RAM for an optimal experience on the KDE Plasma desktop. Gnoppix is currently seeking volunteers to help improve documentation for its wide range of features.
