  1. I highly recommend Kdenlive. You can get it directly and for free from their website. Works on any distribution (as far as I know) and you can get an appimage as well, if you do not want to install it and run it directly. Very powerful tool, but check out the differences between the updated versions. Some have more advantages than others (number of effects etc.).
I use “kdenlive-18.08.3-x86_64.AppImage” since a long time and it runs very well on my machine! Very satifsfied.

  2. Your comments on these programmes do not really make clear whether any of them work – not as a video editor, but as a dvd editor!

I am looking for a programme which enables me to make burnable, standalone dvd player-ready dvds with specially designed title/chapter screens etc. Basically something like PowerDirector-products for Windows!!!

Is there any Linux-programme for that?

  3. Thanks for the article and the review of the different packages.
However, bear in mind that many users follow the commands straight through, so it is important to pay attention to them and have someone else run them to verify they are correct.
I mention this because there is a typo in the sequence for Fre:ac Audio Converter. In the first line, it reads
    sudo mv ~/Downloads/freac-*-linux /opt/freac-linu
but the rest of the sequence makes reference to /opt/freac/linux
Again, thanks for this review. Very useful.
